‘White House Physician Releases Trump Health Update

President Donald Trump remains in excellent health and is fully capable of carrying out the responsibilities of the presidency, according to a medical report released Friday following a comprehensive examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The report, prepared by Dr. Sean Barbabella, detailed an extensive evaluation that included a CT scan, advanced cardiac imaging, cancer screenings, and a range of preventive health assessments performed by a team of 22 medical specialists. The physician concluded that Trump is in strong physical condition, with excellent cognitive and physical performance, and is fully fit to serve as commander in chief.

According to the report, Trump weighed 238 pounds during the examination, up 14 pounds from his April 2025 physical. At 6 feet 3 inches tall, his body mass index (BMI) was calculated at 29.7, placing him just below the medical threshold for obesity. Doctors recommended continued attention to diet, exercise, and weight management while emphasizing that his overall health remains strong.

The examination also noted minor bruising on Trump’s hands, which physicians attributed to frequent handshaking combined with aspirin use. Doctors recommended switching to a low-dose aspirin regimen. The report further stated that Trump continues to have mild lower-leg swelling related to chronic venous insufficiency, an age-related condition disclosed by the White House last year, but noted that the condition has improved since his previous evaluation.

Dr. Barbabella reported no abnormal findings involving Trump’s heart, lungs, nervous system, or overall physical health. He added that the president’s demanding schedule, including frequent public appearances, high-level meetings, and regular physical activity, continues to support his well-being.

Trump also completed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a widely used screening test for cognitive impairment, earning a perfect score of 30 out of 30. According to the report, he achieved the same score during examinations in both 2025 and 2018.

The medical evaluation also showed major improvements in Trump’s cholesterol levels. His total cholesterol measured 143, down from 223 in 2018. Doctors credited the improvement to medications including rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, which help lower LDL cholesterol and improve overall cardiovascular health.

The examination was the fourth publicly disclosed medical evaluation since Trump returned to office for his second term. Although presidents are not legally required to release their medical records, health disclosures have traditionally attracted significant public interest, particularly during election cycles. Trump, who turns 80 next month, was the oldest person elected president at the time of his election, making his health a continuing topic of public attention.
