Kerry Sheron, a Southern California Army veteran widely known for owning the “Trump House,” remains in critical condition after suffering severe injuries during a violent assault outside his home. Police responded to reports of the attack near East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street, where officers found the 69-year-old with life-threatening injuries. A utility worker who witnessed the incident reportedly intervened and helped restrain the suspect until law enforcement arrived.
Sheron was rushed to a trauma center, where he continues to receive intensive medical care. His wife, Maria Garcia, said she fears he may not survive, describing the attack as heartbreaking. She also suggested the assault could have been linked to the home’s prominent display of American flags and pro-Trump signs, though investigators have not confirmed any motive.
Authorities arrested 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler, who has been charged with attempted murder and is being held without bail. Investigators said Butler fled after the assault but was quickly apprehended nearby. While acquaintances have claimed Butler struggled with mental health issues, police have not verified those reports or connected them to the attack. Officials continue investigating the case and have not determined whether political motivations, mental health concerns, or other factors played a role.
