Report: Graham’s Possible Cause of Death Revealed

Longtime Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has died at the age of 71, a loss that shocked political leaders in Washington, D.C., and across the Palmetto State. President Donald Trump announced Graham’s passing on Truth Social, describing him as “one of the greatest people and Senators” he had ever known and praising his dedication to public service.

According to a statement from Graham’s family, the senator died Saturday night following a “brief and sudden illness.” The family requested prayers and privacy while they grieve. Reports indicate that emergency responders were called to Graham’s Capitol Hill residence after receiving a report of a possible cardiac arrest. However, officials have not released an official cause of death.

Graham was serving as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and was preparing to seek another six-year Senate term in the upcoming election. First elected to the Senate in 2002, he became one of the Republican Party’s most prominent figures, particularly on defense, national security, and foreign policy issues.

Tributes poured in from across the United States and around the world. Senate Majority Leader John Thune praised Graham as a strong supporter of America and global freedom. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster called him a determined advocate for both his state and the nation.

International leaders also honored Graham’s legacy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Graham was a strong defender of freedom who worked to support peace efforts and strengthen pressure on Russia. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also remembered him as a committed ally and friend.

Under South Carolina law, Governor McMaster will appoint a temporary replacement for Graham’s Senate seat until a permanent successor is chosen. State Republicans are expected to begin the process of selecting a new nominee for the upcoming election.
