Marine One Forced to Make Emergency Landing with Trump, Melania

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump safely arrived at Stansted Airport after Marine One made a precautionary landing during their visit to the United Kingdom because of a minor hydraulic issue.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the helicopter landed at a nearby airfield “out of an abundance of caution” after pilots detected the problem. The president and first lady were immediately transferred to a backup helicopter and continued their journey without incident. The scheduled 20-minute flight from Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s country residence at Chequers to Stansted Airport ultimately took about 40 minutes due to the aircraft change.

The incident occurred as President Trump concluded his state visit to Britain, where he met with King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Their discussions focused on strengthening economic ties, technology, security, and international affairs.

A major highlight of the visit was the announcement of expanded U.S.-U.K. cooperation on investment and advanced technologies. Trump described the partnership as one that would generate billions of dollars in new opportunities while improving American access to Britain’s aerospace industry. He also emphasized collaboration in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, fusion energy, 6G communications, and civil nuclear power.

Speaking alongside business leaders, Trump said the agreement would encourage greater cooperation between governments, universities, and private industry. He highlighted significant private-sector commitments, including major investments in energy infrastructure and advanced nuclear technology. Trump praised the planned deployment of modular nuclear reactors across the United Kingdom, saying the projects would create thousands of jobs, generate tens of billions of dollars in economic value, and provide electricity for approximately 1.5 million homes.
